Easement Design

An easement is the right to cross or otherwise use a portion of someone else’s land. An easement is required when stormwater design requires the use of a portion of a neighbouring property to convey stormwater from the site to a drainage system, detention basin, or other designated area.

The design process typically involves creating a detailed plan that includes the location, size, slope, and vegetation of the easement. This plan is then reviewed and approved by a range of stakeholders such as property owners, regulatory agencies, and engineering firms. Once approved, the easement is typically constructed using traditional stormwater engineering techniques such as grading, channelling, and vegetation management.
